Recoil Magazine
I’m so sick of reading all this fallout from Recoil magazine. I stayed on the sidelines because I don’t want to take sides and support HK a company I don’t really like on the grounds of their products, and recoil magazine which is a flashy coolguy magazine but I could care less about any gun rag.
For those who don’t know the flap is because of something that a representative from HK said in an article about the mp7a1.
Like [sic] we mentioned before, the MP7A1 is unavailable to civilians and for good reason. We all know that’s technology no civvies should ever get to lay their hands on. This is a purpose-built weapon with no sporting applications to speak of. It is made to put down scumbags, and that’s it. Mike Cabrera of Heckler & Koch Law Enforcement Sales and veteran law enforcement officer with SWAT unit experience points out that this is a gun that you do not want in the wrong, slimy hands. It comes with semi-automatic and full-auto firing modes only. Its overall size places it between a handgun and submachine gun. Its assault rifle capabilities and small size make this a serious weapon that should not be taken lightly.
I get that this pisses everybody off and blah blah blah, but grow the fuck up. I actually think the only people that get pissed off about stuff like this are people who only ever buy american made weapons (ar15’s) and never have to deal with 922(r). HK had nothing to do with that law being passed. George Bush Sr. did in 1989 when they banned the importation of non-sporting rifles. Anybody who deals in AK’s is familiar with this law because we cannot just import an AK from another country in a “non sporting” form. It has to be sporterized like a saiga minus the pistol grip and muzzle device, or neutered with a 10 round single stack magazine like a WASR. Once it’s in the country we can modify them to non-sporting dresss but we have to make sure it only has a total of 10 parts that are imported the rest have to be made overseas.
Now overseas companies like HK and FN who make “non-sporting” weapons have two choices. Make the guns overseas and then make a handful of parts over here to convert them to 922(r) compliance, or build a factory over here and make the guns in America. (what FN does with the SCAR)
Now it’s fine to get your panties in a bunch and you can do whatever you want but all these consumers are calling for boycots of any company who advertises in RECOIL magazine. It really just shows some ignorance on their part. HK didn’t make the laws over here. If they make a gun that is NON-SPORTING they can only import them for law enforcement/military users. I wish people would rage more against the real problem which is the 922(r) law. The NRA and NSSF are never going to give two shits about it because they are only going to look out for the best interests of their American companies who give them tons of money. Honestly if they repealed 922(r) and allowed the importation of non-sporting rifles AK’S would drop down to $300, and foreign companies would start selling AR-15’s and they would be $500, SEMI auto m14’s WOULD BE $300 BUCK! how do we know this… because they don’t have 922(r) in canada and they are still allowed to import guns from China and Russia.

^ THIS It’s not a big deal anyways. Life goes on for gun owners if we can’t own MP7A1s. Not the end of the world.

people aren’t mad at HK - they’re mad at the editor for editorializing the kind of attitude otherwise espoused by the likes of Feinstein and the Brady Bunch. pistol-training.com has good coverage - HK is not to blame here. the editor left the company
